Correct Golf Swing Slice

golf, improve your golf swing, lower your golf score, break 80
How do i stop the slice in my golf swing?

When i hit the ball it always goes right off the tee. Looking for ways to correct this problem

Keep the face of your club straighter and keep your head down, dont jerk your head up. You could also try to step to the right a little more if you are a right handed swinger, or to your left if you are a lefty. I line up my left foot with the ball and I am a righty. Good luck.

Correct Golf Swing Slice

what is the best way to correct a slice in my golf swing?

very hard to diagnose without seeing your swing. the slice movement of the golf ball is caused by striking the golf ball with an open clubface. would be helpful to know the initial line of your ball flight after impact to further diagnose what’s happening, i.e. straight, left, or right.

a couple of common causes of slicing include:

1. picking the club straight up at takeaway and returning the club at impact via an outside inside swing path and/or

2. doing what’s known as a reverse pivot, i.e. shifting your weight forward at takeaway and then backward at impact.

easiest ways to rectify these problems are to ensure a proper shoulder turn away from the ball on your backswing and properly shifting your weight forward on the downswing, trying to ensure either an inside to outside swing (which will promote more of a draw movement) or a square to square swing.

best advice would be to contact a local golf pro and get lessons…even the pros like tiger do that. :)

Correct Golf Swing Slice

Developing The Correct Golf Swing Basics

It’s obvious to anyone who has played golf that to play well, you must have a good golf swing. How do you achieve that? You need to learn the basics of a good golf swing and practice regularly.

The first step in developing golf swing basics is the address or set-up. Often this essential step is overlooked and the result is usually a poor shot. Without the correct address, it is difficult to start and finish your swing correctly.

The second step is the grip. This is critical as your hands are the connection from the power of your body to the golf club. If your grip is not right, chances are the club face will not be in the correct position at contact, and a slice or hook will result.

Now let’s take a look at the swing itself.

The ideal backswing is one that is smooth and gradual. The hands, arms and shoulders should all move together in the swing. A common mistake that golfers make is that they bring the club face inside when they begin their backswing. This will usually result in a slice. The lower body should remain still as you make the first half of your backswing.

The result of keeping your lower body still is that your upper body will coil, and this coiling action is where you will generate the power in your shot. At the top of your backswing you need to transition to the downswing. This is where a lot of players blow it.

For most shots, the downswing should begin with the hips. But remember, your arms, hands, hips, shoulders, all come together at the moment of impact with the ball. As you move through the downswing, your weight should move from the front, to the back foot. This will allow you to generate more power in the shot.

Remember that the aim is to be back in the address position at the point of impact, and the club head should be square.

The last step to a great golf swing is the follow through. The follow through is just as important as any other part of the swing process. Many golfers will want to pull their swing to a sudden stop once they have hit the ball. It’s important to keep your head down and allow your arms to extend into the shot towards the target.

The golf swing can be a fairly complicated process, and even more so because of the variety of clubs used. The swing will be slightly different with each club. To develop a good golf swing you need to practice as often as possible with each club.
